On the 1st of June 2013, me and my partner who is the guitarist I wrote about last time, really opened our own bar. We held the opening party, a lot of friends came there and drank a lot to get crazy.
After we opened our own bar, the bar went well. Everybody got together in the tiny bar and enjoyed drinking with good friends.
There is located in the Suzunari area (The end of the North-east of Shimokitazawa and 5 min from the station). There are Izakayas, good restaurants and over 30 small retro-style bars around the Suzunari theatre. Bar Ghetto is a little bit bigger compared to the other ones around there (But It is still tiny though).
I and my partner decided a few bar rules.
1. Connect each person and help each customer who comes to our bar, make at least one friend before they go back home.
2. Open the bar at least until 5:00 am (To care for them until their first train) and close the bar when the last customer would be satisfied and gone.
3. Hold a full moon party called Ghetto-sai (月灯祭) every month. (Saturday of the full moon’s week)
4. Do freely whatever we want but for customers.
..and started working each in day shifts and worked together on the weekend.
We have different colors between us and because of that, the bar color was also different according to who was running it that day.
I don’t remember clearly what was going on those nights, but I think that maybe I just drank a lot with everybody who I met on the street (by busking) and who are friends (as far as I can see from those old pictures). Also, I can understand now how fucking stupid those nights were from seeing those pictures.
Tequila shots with a water pistol.
Moreover, missing the target.
Pretending to be a good bartender. (Actually, not sure what I was making.)
It was my night. (Sorry everybody who came that time.)
But my partner’s night was totally different.
Needless to say, He can make good cocktails from standard up to fashionable cocktails and he can cook very delicious dishes. Also, I mentioned on the last episode that he has a huge (crazy) knowledge about music, politics, novels, foods and he can talk about all topic which you want to talk and he can get on well together with everybody.
Furthermore, before midnight he suddenly sets his stuff…
Yes! He is the best guitarist that I had known, in my life!!!
It was his day. (I really loved it!)
We had those nights on weekdays, we worked together on the weekend (Usually he worked inside the bar counter and I drank with customers though.) and We had a monthly full moon party called Ghetto-sai 月灯祭 every Saturday of the full moon week.
The bar called Ghetto, means moon light in Japanese and means as you know, in English.
to be continued…
