“OMG… What on earth is this? Why has my beautiful wife been completely changed to this creepy figure?” He turned his eyes away unconsciously and ran away. run, run, run and run away. Izanami who was seen as a creepy figure by her husband burned her heart with sadness, anger and shame even though, she was promised that he wouldn’t look for her. “Why you couldn’t keep our promise? I told that you should not see me.”
The mortification became loathing and she enveloped it on her body as a flame and she runs to chase him with a lot of bears of Yomi-no-kuni. “I want to cut his body into peace and eat it” She run fast and chased him at full speed. Izanagi shuddered whenever he was looking back at his wife’s figure which was burning with anger and he ran faster and faster.
Finally, they reached Yomotsu-hira-saka (黄泉比良坂) that was the boundary between this world and the other world. He threw peaches to them and while they were eating peaches, he runs away fast and got there. He covered the hole of the boundary with a huge boulder called Chibiki-no-iwa (千引の岩) then, the passage between this world and Yomi-no-kuni was cut off.
“Why did you break the promise and looked at my figure?” Izanami shouted from the other side of the boulder to him. “I should kill 1,000 kids that are expected to be born in your world every single day because you put me to shame!!” She complained about grudge to him. Izanagi answered, “If you kill 1,000 of our kids every single day, I will build a maternity room which is able to give birth to 1,500 kids every single day.” It was the last conversation they had and the wife and husband gods broke up forever. Izanami had anger and sadness and she went back to Yomi-no-kuni in solitude.
Izanagi who felt that He saw a very foul thing, went to the river called Awagi-hara (阿波岐原) of Odo (小門) in Tachibana, Himuka of Tukushi (橘、日向、筑紫) and he did Misogi-harai (禊祓い means a form of Shinto purification). Threw the wand and took off his clothes. One after another, the Gods were born from the wand and clothes. After that, he walked into the middle of the river and purified his body. When he dove into the water, a lot of gods like Magatu-hi-no-kami, Naomi-no-kami, Azu-no-me-no-kami etc… were born. When he purified the bottom of the water, Sokotsu-wata-tsumi-no-kami, when he did it in the middle of the water, Nakatsu-wata-tsumi-no-kami, when he did it in the upper part of the water Uwatsu-wata-tsumi-no-kami was born. (they are worshiped in Sumiyoshi-Taisha (住吉大社) now)
After that, Izanagi washed his left eye, right eye and his nose for the final purification. At that time, from the left eye, the god who shines divinely named Amaterasu-o-mi-kami (天照大御神), from the right eye, the god who shines gently named Tsuku-yomi-no-mikoto (月読命) and from the nose, the god who has a strong breath named Susanoo-no-mikoto (須佐之男命) were born. Izanagi was very glad about that and he declared to them. “Finally, I got three holy kids of god. At first, the god of the sun who was born from my left eye Amaterasu-o-mi-kami, I want you to rule the Takama-no-hara (高天の原) from the heaven. The second, the god of the moon who was born from my right eye Tsuku-yomi-no-mikoto, I want you to rule the Osu-kuni (食国) at night. Finally, the god who was born from my nose Susanoo-no-mikoto, I want you to rule the ocean.” Izanagi said it and let the three holy gods rule the three different countries. Then, because of that, this world was calm and stabilized as one.
I remembered what we talked about in Gri-yoshi (Grill-Yoshida) after I finished reading “Kojiki (古事記)” until then. “We waste a lot of good points of Gose. Nobody knows the amazing history of Gose even though, we have Takama-no-hara.” After the mom of Gri-yoshi said it, we talked about the great history of Gose. “Why does nobody know this fact? I also didn’t know about it even though, I was born in Gose and I grew up here.” “Probably, the thing I can do for Gose is to introduce it in English to the people who come to Japan from all over the world and who like Japan.” “Mom, Where is Takama-no-hara? I wanna go there and I want to know how cool it is.” After I asked that she showed me a book. “This is a book written about the history of Gose. this book has a Map and writes about each history. You can borrow it and you have to know about your hometown.”
“Things which I can do for my hometown…” I took a book in my hand and I was excited about it.
“Opp??, You should absolutely go to one more place. It’s called “Jimmu-tennou-sha (神武天皇社)” the place where the first Japanese emperor Jimmu became an emperor.”
