As I mentioned in my last post, I’m working 3 job and I’m barely living at Whistler ski resort. Today I want to write about my restaurant job which is one of my jobs. As embarrassing as this is to say, I’m working just a dishwasher there, because I don’t have special skills, including speaking English but also, I can get staff meals. This means that If you can wash dishes, you can get a job anywhere over the world, especially in other languages besides your country, and you can assure you have a meal, no matter how expensive that food is. I’m sure that the dish washing skill is one of the ways to survive anywhere, because there are restaurants even in small towns and some of those restaurants absolutely need your help. because nobody wants to work that part.
Today, I want to show you “How to wash dishes faster”
If you read this post until the end, you can survive anywhere in the world.
Why can I show you “How to wash dishes faster”?
When I had my first experience working oversea, I got a job in a restaurant called Kaprica in Melbourne, Australia. The restaurant has the most delicious pizza in the world, pappardelle (ragu is awesome), fettuccine, chilli garlic prawns, sweets and etc.. There are over 80 seats and those were full every day, even though they don’t have a website or some add and even a signboard. Furthermore, the chef named Pietro cooked all customer’s meal from the carefully selected material. But I don’t know why their kitchen staff are only Pietro and me. Tons of Plate, cups, cutlery, pans and all of the cookware, All used things were coming to my washer space. It is also my first experience to work in the kitchen and I didn’t know how busy the restaurant is. But now, I had the experience in some other restaurant and I can say that was so crazy.
Why only the 2 of us were 80 seats? Why didn’t they have a jet washer hose? How many plates or other things did I wash in one day by myself? But the craziest thing is how he could cook every customer meal by himself? Pietro and me were running the restaurant every day and every night, but when we reached a Valentine’s day, the restaurant was inexplicable fu*kin busy. a lot of customers formed a line outside, but If they don’t like waiting, they can take out food and eat at their house because of course, we are a pizza restaurant. My washing place changed like the front of a DJ booth of a trance party and I was dancing with countless dishes. I took a glance at my chef, he toadied a lot of pizza dough like he was playing the djembe, he put 10 pizza in the big oven and swung 6 pans at the same time, but he still had countless order slips.
At that time, he opened the oven and found a pizza which had a little bit of burned on the edge. Unfortunately, I looked at it and our eyes met a moment and I felt everything stop…
What will Pietro do!?
What will you do my chef!!!???
He threw it!!
He threw a little bit of burned pizza to me!!!
Then after 1 second, he remade a new pizza and time restarted.
It goes without saying that he hired one more kitchen staff the next day.
Now I think about those busy day and how they were fu*kin crazy, but I got a great experience and big confidence, and I don’t fear it I happen to meet a busy restaurant washer place. And I decided that I want to be a man like Pietro, as he hired me I couldn’t speak English and I didn’t have enough experience in the kitchen.
