On the last post, I suddenly announced you that I’ll make some accommodation until the Tokyo Olympics in 2020, and you can stay there during the Olympics for free. Honestly speaking, I had no idea how big is this project, but I thought that I have to announce you at that time. Because if I don’t say anything inside my brain, I absolutely won’t take any action and it will never come true, just like this website which I started for improving my English skills, who has a fu*king stupid brain and can’t use time effectively.
Well, Today, I want to write about my idea which is how to achieve my fu*king stupid goal. So, How can I let all my friends stay for free in Tokyo during the Tokyo 2020?
What do I need to you during that time?
Host city: Tokyo, Japan

未来をつかもう (‘Mirai wo tsukamō’)

Closing ceremony: 9 August

The 2020 Summer Olympics, officially known as the Games of the XXXII Olympiad (第三十三回オリンピック競技大会 Dai Sanjūni-kai Orinpikku Kyōgi Taikai) and commonly known as Tokyo 2020, is a major international multi-sport event due to be celebrated in the tradition of the Olympic Games as governed by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). The games are planned to be held from 24 July to 9 August 2020 in Tokyo, Japan. – refer to Wikipedia
According to Wikipedia, Tokyo 2020 are planned to be held from 24 July to 9 August 2020. It means I have to have some free accommodation for 17 days in Tokyo. Then, I have to image how many friends will come there. So, I have 2666 friends on my Facebook now, even if 80% of my friends are Japanese, I have 533 friends from all over the world and if 5% of them will come to Tokyo that time, (including my new friends who I will meet until that time and my friends of friends, I put 5%) It will be 26 people.
Well, Let’s start imagining how to let 30 people stay 17 days in a fu*king busy season for free in Tokyo.
Case 1 Opening Guesthouse or Hostel
Being a realistic thought, It depends on how much I have, how many people give me their support or how many things I can prepare for it until 4 years from now. Then I need to make several different plans depending on this. In the first case which is if I have a lot of money, I will open a Guest house or Hostel in Tokyo. I’m not sure how expensive is to open it and how much the running cost is, but I’ll assume that I have an enough money for it. Yes, I know it is the hardest way, but nobody knows what will happen in life. right?
In my planning, I want to open the cheapest guest house in Tokyo called “Ghetto Guesthouse” in Shimokitazawa, Tokyo. Because I already have a bar in Shimokitazawa and we don’t have a cheap guest house there, furthermore that area is close to Shinjuku or Shibuya which are famous places as you know (less than 10 min to get to both by 1 line of train) but it’s not such a big neighborhood and we have a lot of good-old bars and shops.
Especially, during the Olympic, we can go to the National Olympic Stadium in 30 min as shown in the map above.
According to hostelworld.com, the cheapest guest house is US$17 per night for a 9 Bed Mixed Dorm in Asakusa, Tokyo. So, keeping that in mind, I want to open a guesthouse where you can stay for US$15.
As I mentioned above, I have no idea how expensive it is to open it and how much the running cost might be, but I want to write my idea for saving up the running cost and make a comfortable guesthouse in this paragraph.
Don’t put something that is beyond necessity.
At first, We don’t put something that is beyond necessity. Just put something of the necessity for staying in the bedroom. It makes easy for cleaning and makes there be space for more people.
Furthermore, the most effective method is that the customer who stays there also doesn’t bring something that is beyond necessity to the bedroom. So, my idea is to make a big storage room for it.
The customer can put everything which they don’t need for sleeping (huge backpack, clothes, souvenir,etc..), and they can use the bedroom only with necessary things. Furthermore, we also provide beds which have storage.
Because of those things, We can keep the rooms clean and the customer wouldn’t get stressed even if they stay with many people. Also, If we provide a box which they can put things they don’t find necessary anymore, they can continue their travel more easily and in a light way and somebody else who might need can get it.
Hiring the absolute minimum staff
During my time working in the hotel, I always thought about how inefficient they are and how can I clean rooms efficiently. I think that if I can clean a room efficiently, we would just need a minimum staff. So, My idea of hiring the absolute minimum staff is exactly about cleaning rooms faster and it makes saving the cost of running the guesthouse.
Because of what I mentioned above paragraph, We can clean efficiently now, then if we unify the same things on all rooms (beds, sheets, furnishings, etc..), It makes more easy cleaning. Also, if we use more efficient items it’s gonna be easier. So, in my image, I hire him for cleaning rooms at first.
Then, I also give some discount for the customer, if they change their sheets, they clean the washroom or the kitchen, they can stay much cheaper or for free. Because of those things I don’t need extra cost of running the guesthouse.
Set up something to bring earnings to the guest house.
At last, I set up something which can make gains to this guesthouse. Maybe a bar, cafe or language school something which can make extra money. Then, we hire whoever wants to do it from our customers. Of course, they can drink free alcohol and free food or they can get some money and they can pay the rent from it.
Well, This is my image in my brain if I’m running a guesthouse. Of course, if I really can do it, I provide it for you for free during Tokyo 2020. the terms of your stay there are just to keep it clean or work as our staff, and If you can work at the bar, cafe or language school, you can get extra money and you can go to the good Sushi restaurant.
Case 2 Opening shear house
In the second case which is if I don’t have enough money for opening the guesthouse, but I have enough money for staying in Tokyo, I will open a share house in Tokyo. So, In this paragraph, I want to write about how to run the share-house if I open it and how to invite you there during Tokyo 2020 for free.
This share house I want to make it the cheapest share-house in Tokyo. According to Google, the cheapest share house in Tokyo is US$390 for a bedroom for 4 people (including utilities). Keeping that in mind, Let’s simulate how cheap can I open a share house and how to invite you for free.
At first, I searched the cheap house for buying around Shimokitazawa with Sumo (Japanese site for housing). but the cost in only over one million dollars, and I immediately gave up to buy a house. Then, I searched the cheapest house for rent and I found a good place to simulate running the cheapest share house.
This is a 14 years old 4LDK house which has 142.54 square meters and there are 2 kitchens, 2 bathrooms, 2 washrooms and a big attic. even though It has a weak point which is 17 minutes from Shimokitazawa station, it cost is US$3230 per month and I want to simulate running the cheapest share house with this house. So, If everybody pays $380, We can share US$3230 with 8.5 persons. Then if 10 persons stay there, we can pay utilities, daily necessities for 10 people. It means if I put 2 beds or one bunk bed per 1 room (including the attic), I can run the cheapest share house in Tokyo. So, in the following, I want to write my idea to run a comfortable share house and my method for you to stay there for free.
After deciding the house, we have to set furniture to make a comfortable house. So, my idea is setting all furniture which can be transformed into something else, for other uses. for example, I put an image above which is an ordinary couch, but if I transform this couch…
The couch transforms into a bunk bed!! So, with those things we can easy deal with a population problem. If somebody wants to stay for a few days, we just transform some furniture and make a bed for them. Yes. It is not only during the Tokyo 2020 but for whenever it might happen.
Furthermore, If all beds are set with those furnitures, It is so easy to change the room type. It means if somebody pays extra rent, they can stay in a private room and make enough space for them.
All that’s left is to announce is that the number of housemates will fluctuate every moment to all housemates when they move in. If I put 6 extra beds with those furniture par house and if I can run 5 shear houses like that, I can let 30 people stay. Then, During the Tokyo 2020, I will transform all furniture to beds and I will provide those for you for free.
So, this is my idea of running a share house. Also, if I use the idea of opening a guesthouse or hostel, it makes it easier to clean, saving space and making gains as well. Furthermore, if I have a lot of money, I can mix that guesthouse and this share house, and I can open a more effective and huge accommodation.
Case 3 If I don’t have enough money
Well, I wrote about how I can let all my friends stay for free in Tokyo during the 2020 Tokyo those 2 paragraph above. but those things are just in case I have enough money. Yes. I really know that life is not so easy as I imagine. but that’s why I found a solution for it.
So, on my next post, I want to write about in case I don’t have enough money.
Thank you for reading it to the end. See you next week again.
