23rd of October 2016, I arrived in Tokyo from my hometown Nara. Because I argued with the manager of my bar, with the staff and all our regular customers about my fucking crazy thought, I had left from Tokyo, but came back for the first time after one month. I had a reason why I came back because my Monday’s bartender was quitting work at bar Ghetto to chase her dream and she said that I should take her shift. However, when I look back at that time, I’m sure that she did this just to make me come back to Tokyo and she really quit for me.
“I’m sorry, I was fucking stupid..” I opened the door of my bar timidly and I apologized to my manager then to all the customers who I had argued with. Because I went back to my hometown and went to a lot of shrines for 1 month, I was able to relax and I realized this world wouldn’t change only with my crazy thoughts and words. If I want to change something, I have to change myself and take action. Instead, I realized this world is already perfect as there’s nothing to worry about and there’s nothing that affects me directly. Anyway, I restarted my life in Tokyo from that time. It was almost one year ago now.
Hi there. At first, I have to apologize to everybody who used to read this blog, that I haven’t written a new post in a while… Actually, I don’t know how many friends have read and how many people still remember this blog, but I’m sure that my motivation is getting super low and of course so are my English skills ..they are getting super bad.. So, I think that it is time to restart to write this blog if I really want to write a new book in English, during my stay in the super cheap country, Ukraine.
As soon as I came back to Tokyo, I started to look for a new apartment and I found a f*cking cheap room. Even though it was in Shimokitazawa (kind of the center of Tokyo), the price is just US$280/1month!! Because there are a shared toilet and no shower, I had to become a member of the gym where they had sauna and jacuzzi (for me who loves a sauna, it was a good life) Furthermore, the best point is that the room is just 1min away from bar Ghetto and so, I lived in comfort.
Anyway, I could set up base in Tokyo for the first time since 2 years ago and I restarted to work as for Monday’s bartender at my bar.
Also during the daytime, from Wednesday to Sunday, I reopened the cafe called Cafe Olline at the same place as bar Ghetto.
As I mentioned in a very old blog entry, I opened that place as a bilingual cafe. Because of my stupid brain, I couldn’t teach English but I taught how to learn English and I could connect friends who want to learn English and who want to learn Japanese. When looking back at that time, I realized I could make a super strong and bitter coffee because I haven’t made coffee before. However, I still tried to catch customers while skateboarding on the streets every day, customers increased little by little as the days went by and I was glad that I could have students and I could help them as you helped me another time.
After a while, on the middle of December, I also restarted to work at bar half-moon “OK” (I mentioned it in a past post), as for Wednesday’s bartender. Everybody asked me why are you working for another bar located just in front of your bar, but I couldn’t endure seeing that that place was closed every Wednesday since I came back to Tokyo. “If you don’t mind, I wanna help you to be Wednesday’s bartender.” When I asked the owner of the bar half-moon “OK”, he cried in happiness. However, I just wanted to reply his favor, because of him I could have bar Ghetto (he is the ex-owner of bar Ghetto).
Anyway, I worked as Monday’s bartender of bar Ghetto, as for Wednesday’s bartender of bar OK and as a barista (even though my coffee is still “special”) & teacher at Cafe Olline from Thursday to Sunday. the income of cafe Olline is still quite small, but because of the incomes from being a bartender and also low outgo (rent and I don’t need to pay for drinking in my bar.) I could survive in Shimokitazawa, Tokyo.
Honestly speaking, I was already supposed to go back overseas at that time. The next goal was the country which I haven’t been to yet, USA!! I really wanted to go there because I had two very exciting tasks which I wanted to write the next book. Going to a festival to watch the solar eclipse and one of the biggest festivals from all over the world called Burning Man. It was a dream since 5 years ago when I decided to make a new book.
However, when I tried to do my best to get better at those businesses and save money, a serious incident happened.
to be continued…
